For a few select products, I have included screenshots, which are also launchable links, to showcase my instructional design expertise.
Specifically, I developed the Civilian Staff Officer Course to resolve a command-identified civilian employee performance gap. To maximize effectiveness, I gathered content from subject matter experts (SMEs) and produced a performance-improving product that combines best-of-breed print, instructor-led, and distributed learning (dL). Print assets provide students with real-world deliverables, templates, and related best practices. DL materials give students foundational knowledge, which they must use as part of a practical exercise in the 8-hour face-to-face portion to prepare a staffing package, and have their decision briefing and staffing package rated by senior Army leaders. Finally, I set up a SharePoint site and Blackboard organization to facilitate continued information sharing and discussion between course graduates.

For the dL materials listed, I produced SCORM conformant courseware using Adobe Flash, Dreamweaver, and the MANSCEN Rapid Development System as part of a course that is conducted quarterly and delivered via the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS).
Many of you may have seen the movie, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," in which the teacher, played by Ben Stein, drones on incessantly in a monotone and bores everyone.
As someone who has not only designed but delivered training, I find ways to keep audiences involved.
For example, in my current position, I instruct senior subject matter experts (SMEs), to include non-commissioned officers, civilian training developers, as well as instructors to develop more effective products using the instructional systems design (ISD) or systems approach to training (SAT) process. I have found that learners stay most engaged when I act as a mentor and provide just-in-time, to-the-point training.
Clicking the image on the left will launch a student handout or Checklist for Effective Multiple Choice Tests that synthesizes instructional theory on criterion-referenced tests into a concise, easy-to-use tool. I have found that SMEs respond best when I defer to their expertise in military matters, and provide them with job-relevant tools and guidance that help them improve their training processes and procedures.
Before my job with the Department of Defense, I worked as an eLearning Developer for the Regence group. This course covers their in-house pharmacy plan, Regence Rx, is SCORM 1.2 conformant, and was delivered and tracked within their SumTotal produced Learning Management System. The example image on the left illustrates (clicking the image will launch the course) how my graphic design and Flash programming skills organize resources and represent tasks and skills in a memorable format.
Note: I realize that this course's animated pedagogical agent, whose narration mirrors onscreen text, violates Mayer and Moreno's Split Attention Principle. I explained to my client that this repetition would overload the learner by splitting his/her attention and, therefore, inhibit learning, but the client insisted despite my objections. However, on the whole, the course presents key information concisely in a way that helped learners quickly master required skills and knowledge.
